Directions
To get to Deadmans Reef in Laguna Beach enter the water at Crecent Bay.
Parking
The parking is available at Crescent Bay on a first come first serve basis. You can only park on the right hand side of this one way street. There are no parking meters to pay unless you have to park at the top of Fairview St, the bottom of Fairview does not have meters. On crowded days you may have to park along Cliff Dr. Please remember that this is a private residential area. Be very courteous to the neighborhood, quiet and discreet.
Beach Access
Beach access is available at Crescent Bay from two locations. The first is a steep pathway on the corner of Fairview St and Cliff DR, this takes you strait to the bathrooms and the west side of the beach. The second location is a stairway at the Crescent Bay sign. This will take you to the center of the beach and is better access if you plan on diving on the east side of Crescent Bay.
Facilities
The facilities at Crescent Bay feature a men's and women's bathroom. On the West side of the bathroom there is a shower with a high (for your head) and a low (for your feet, or very small divers) shower head. The picture shows to the left of the bathroom the steep path entrance to the beach. At the top of the path there is a pay telephone.
Diving
The scuba diving at Crescent Bay is on the east side or on the west side. In the center there's LOTS of sand! On the East side Crescent Bay borders Shaw's Cove and if you follow the reef around you will find yourself at Shaws. On the West side of Crescent Bay there is a reef that runs north and south. The reef abruptly ends and if the diver heads west you arrive at Seal rock which is visible from the shore. This is the hangout for the Laguna Beach local Sea Lions. The Scuba Diver is cautioned to keep at a distance, because it is illegal to harass the Sea Lions. You can also leave the edge of the reef and head south at a compass heading of about 200 degrees for about 200 yards to find Dead Man's reef. This reef is great to dive on because of it's size and shape. Few divers go to Dead Man's because of the distance. But if you're in shape and the water is calm it's quite an experience!.
